NIGHT OF COLOR
Check out my performance for Night Of Color
When I decided to put on Night Of Color at my school three years ago I never thought it would make such a stamp. Of course I have to give credit to whom created this idea of making a cabaret that highlighted Black and POC performers in MT Programs but as well in the industry we desire to be able to perform and take space in. To see ourselves and inspire others who look like us to know no dream is too big. This project is my baby even after my time at Manhattan School of Music came to an end. This is what being an artist is about, creating, inspiring, and teaching that the impossible is always possible!
DIRECTORS NOTE
Night of Color is a one-night pre-recorded cabaret that will be streamed on YouTube Directed by: Bobby Leaks; Staged Managed by: Claire Nolasco; and Assistant Directed by: Galvin Yuan. In the light of recent events taken place with Black Lives Matter, and a multitude of universities/conservatories including MSM speaking up and out about occurring events happening behind closed doors, this showcase became more than a showcase, it's a movement, to show that BIPOC in this industry will not be marginalized on ethnicity, race, sexual orientation or, religion. Showing we are equal just as our white counter parts and to bring change to the lack of representation of BIPOC and queer stories in the Broadway/Entertainment community. This movement is a collaborative showcase that will include other BIPOC students of MSM outside the MT majors. It's to tell our stories we want to share with the community and beyond.
